Solution for 2 phase system

Hello imeter club,

Looking to setup this product to monitor a 2-phase electrical system at my house.  My utility provider has two line system installed.

Do I need to buy the 3-phase unit and only configure two sensors?

Also, what about extending the monitoring to a solar system installed at secondary panel 20 feet away, do I need another unit?

Thanks,

David

Hi David:

Does your system have a neutral line?

If so ,I think it is a single phase 3 wire system like this

The WEM3080T (3phase ,wifi) supports split phase usage, so you can use two phases of the WEM3080T to monitor your system.

Or you can also use the cost-effective method in the above link, that only one WEM3080(single phase, wifi) can also be used to monitor the single phase 3 wire system.

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, my system has a neutral line?  With the cost-effective solution would I still be able to have no-directional readings?

Hi:

The cost-effective mode may not be as accurate as the normal mode(use two phases of the 3 phase energy meter).
If possible, still recommend using a 3phase meter to measure the single-phase 3wires system.
